In June we’re organizing the second edition of Pride Deventer. There will be a week full of activities to celebrate the queer community and for Deventer to show her support. Activities full of information, parties and color. Together we stand for inclusivity, respect for each other and above all: a lot of love.
Our website and communication is in Dutch. We have ambitions to make it multilingual, but with the capacity of the organization this isn’t possible yet. We hope this post will make it easier to join Pride Deventer.
We will give you a summary of the activities that are accessible for non-Dutch speakers. Of course you are welcome at all the activities, but some of them will be in Dutch. You can always send a message to info@pridedeventer.nl if you have questions about the accessibility of an event or if you struggle to sign up. We are happy to help!
The End – Part 2

The End – part 2 immerses itself in questions of togetherness, solidarity, and belonging within an increasingly digital and fragmented society. How do we perceive each other as our identities grow more transparent? What do we share in a culture where so much feels exposed? At what point does our presence become real?
Inspired by the Stonewall Riots, often seen as the “end” of an era of queer oppression in the 1960s, the title The End – part 2 plays an ironic twist, embodying both closure and its refusal. Embracing this tension, the work traces the ongoing path toward queer liberation, challenging fixed views and provoking open-endedness and a multi-layered perspective. Beginning with a simple, deliberate step, each narrative thread weaves into the next, laying bare the fragile dynamics that define our social gaze—and our curated selves.

Being
An exposition by photographer Jasper Groen with images and stories of transgender people from four different countries (Netherlands Russia, Colombia and Kenia).
At May 31th there will be an celebratory opening of the exposition. This will be in English. The photographer Jasper Groen will tell more about his works and there will be a panel with some of the people that are in the portraits. The opening is free to join.

You can visit the exposition for free at the opening times of the libary. The site is only availiable in Dutch, but you ca find the actual opening times here. The exposition will be at the “tuinkamer” (garden room). If you can’t find it, ask the staff to guide you.
Make your protest sign for the Pride Walk
At the location of COC Deventer we’re going to make protest signs together. Because it’s much more fun to work together and also because we can share inspiration.
We’re going to take care of all the materials needed. You can come with friends, but this is also an ideal activity to meet other people while working on your sign.

The Pride Walk
The main event of the week. At sunday June 22th you can join the Pride Walk. Together we will show Deventer that everybody is welcome and deserves love.

The speeches at the beginning of the walk will be in Dutch. But you can contact us if you want one of the volunteers to translate the speeches. We’ll make sure that instructions for the walk will be communicated in English.
Dragworkshop
Always wanted to know how it would be like to be a dragqueen or dragking? Now you can! At the Dragworkshop we’ll teach you about characterbuilding, make-up and stageperformance.
The workshop will be given by draggking Christopher Rascal, dragqueen Scarlet Johenny and performer Anne Winters.
After the workshop the attendees will do an performance at the Pride Night in Walhalla. This will be a few days later at the 28th of June.

The Official Pride Party (18+)
Loud, Proud & Unstoppable.
No Pride without a party. This year the party will be at De Hip in Deventer. With beautiful Red Diamond as a host, hot pole dance performances by Tandrogony and DJ sets by Ilja, TIM-BER, CU2NT and Leroy Sendar. They will make sure everybody is sweating on the dancefloor.
